Heinz launches limited-edition Ketchup on Facebook

Heinz launched the social commerce tab on their UK Facebook page 3 days ago for its limited edition ‘Balsamic Vinegar’ flavoured ketchup. Apparently, they will sell the first 3,000 bottles to Facebook users who need to like the page before they wish to buy the ketchup. The ketchup is priced at £1.49 including postage.

Facebook users need to add their credit card details to purchase the product, which is fine, but why is Heinz not allowing users to purchase with Facebook credits. I don’t believe that a majority of Facebook users are ready to share their card details on Facebook. Unfortunately, Facebook is full of bugs, for instance, one needs to keep refreshing to load up the chat window which keeps disappearing. I guess for users who are not yet convinced about entering their bank details on the tab, an option to use Facebook credits should be made available.
